Converting drawing title block is frustrating especially for newbie who is new in a corporate. Sometimes referring to previous work produced by seniors aren't not doing the work. There's always some slack occurring or some is not right in your eyes.
As for myself, the problem was there is no proper lesson relate how to present your technical drawing. Let it be in JIS, ASME, or ISO we could not really tell which one should we follow. However, some basic that I believe most of us should follow.
Dimension at all rounds and lines
Just make sure no item was left out during this process. This can be hard to read if we put too much dimensions but at the same time we obliged to state all the sizes. However, you may no need to put a dimension if it already has mirror part. Says you are present a chair on technical drawing, should you have state the chair's leg one by one? Of course it would impractical. The complete and simple method to state them would be " 300mm X 4", assuming the leg's chair is 300mm long.
Use proper symbol
When it comes to circle and arc, make sure to symbol like Diameter or Radius is presence. Unless you draw a circle but intended to applied for thread. Improper symbol use might led to defect end product that you will receive. Proper symbol also gives good communication to all who may receive the drawing.
Ensure no dimension line crossing each other
Dragging dimension could be a difficult task. They may collided with other pre-exist dimension. However there is few style you might try such as,
a: across a top line there is several groove. you can set dimension from point A to B, another is B to C, and continuously.
b: Drag longest dimension on top, the 2nd longest just below the longest one. this continuous until the smallest one.
* However, if the distance is dependent to each other you may apply style "a".
While for circle and round, it is preferable to present it horizontally, While dragging the line, either 45 degree or straight line is convenient to look at. Remember the main rule; avoid collision of dragging line between dimensions.
Apply GD&T
GD&T is acronym for Geometric, Dimension & Tolerance. This another advance technique that state our acceptable defect on the fabricated part. To use this you must know geometric of part such as flatness, parallelism, roundness, cylindricity, and etc. Then set a datum line or reference line to see how a geometric should be compared. Says a top line is given about 0.05+/- to deviate it surface parallelism to bottom parallelism.
